Summary
Do you have expertise in Finance and would you like to use your skills to support a charity? Drive is looking for new Trustees to expand and diversify its Board.
Drive is a charity based in South Wales. We are passionate about supporting people in our communities to live their life in the way they choose.
We are looking to appoint highly skilled and motivated individuals with a finance background to join our governing body, the Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary, unpaid position; however, travel and other expenses can be covered.
About Us
Drive is a forward-thinking charity, established in 1981 to support people with a learning disability to move out of large institutions into ordinary housing in local communities as tenants in their own homes.
We provide support in our communities across South-East Wales to people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, autistic spectrum conditions, physical disabilities, complex health needs and dementia.
We provide support to individuals, living independently or people sharing a household, to enable them to maintain tenancies with Registered Social Landlords. We also provide a respite service, domiciliary care, wellbeing services and run a specialist autism centre within our Eco project.
You can find out more about us and our work on our website: www.drive-wales.org.uk
About the Trustee Role
We are looking to appoint highly skilled and motivated individuals with a professional finance professional background to join our Board of Trustees.
There is also an opportunity to become a member of our Audit & Business Development Committee (which is a sub-committee of the Board of Trustees).
Our Trustees have a strong value base – so you will need to be passionate about supporting people – In turn we offer you a highly rewarding and valuable experience in being a Trustee and Board member.
By using your finance knowledge and experience and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion you will work with the rest of the Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team to help us continue to improve our services for the people we support.
We need people who can help Drive towards achieving its mission and ensure the charity is effectively governed. You would need to have strategic vision, judgement, be a critical thinker, and a willingness to speak your mind.
The Board of Trustees meet five times a year plus two additional Development days. Our Board meetings are hybrid.
The Audit and Business Development Committee meets at least three times per year.
